The manga came after the anime. Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, Sunrise's TV follow-up to Rumiko Takahashi's InuYasha, aired its first 24 episodes from 3 October 2020 to 20 March 2021. The manga launched in the November issue of Shogakukan's Shonen Sunday S, on sale 25 September 2021, a week before the second season started.
Its heroines are Towa and Setsuna, twin daughters of Sesshomaru and Rin, and Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome. During a forest fire in feudal Japan, Towa is separated from her younger sister, wanders through a mysterious tunnel into present-day Japan, and is raised by the family of Kagome's brother Sota. Ten years on, the tunnel opens again and the twins meet, but Setsuna, now a demon slayer working for Kohaku, seems to have lost every memory of her older sister.
In Japan the series finished with volume 10 on 18 August 2025, and the English edition stops at the same place. VIZ released volume 10 as the final volume on 8 September. Its blurb has the trio fighting in the present day while Sesshomaru and Kirinmaru fight in the past.
The artist is Takashi Shiina, known for GS Mikami and Zettai Karen Children. When Shogakukan announced the serial, it noted that even Takahashi was surprised, having assumed the idea was a joke. VIZ credits Takahashi for main character design and Katsuyuki Sumisawa, who handled series composition on the anime, for script cooperation.
The second anime season ran 24 episodes from 2 October 2021 to 26 March 2022, which makes 48 episodes across the two seasons.
