The protagonist, Lilisa Suzunomiya, was once a commoner, but became a daughter of the Suzunomiya real estate dynasty when her mother remarried a year ago. At a school attended only by elite young ladies, she gives up the rock music and guitar she loves and behaves like a lady to earn its most prestigious title, "Noble Maiden". One day, she discovers Otoha Kurogane, the most admired young lady in her year, playing the drums alone in the music room of a disused old school building. Goaded by Otoha into picking up her guitar again, Lilisa eventually forms a rock band with her.

Tina Isemi, a second-year student known as the school's prince who actually lacks confidence, joins the band, as does Tamaki Shiraya, a skilled guitarist at a sister school and Otoha's childhood friend. The four form Rock Lady, an instrumental rock band that plays without vocals. Part of the work's appeal is the way Lilisa and Otoha, who normally speak like well-mannered young ladies, hurl harsh words at each other when they play. The anime's official website shares praise from Aki Hamaji, the creator of Bocchi the Rock!: "I got drunk on rock 'n' roll done with ladylike manners!"

The original manga is by Hiroshi Fukuda, the creator of Mushibugyo. Serialization began in issue 21 of Young Animal, released on October 28, 2022. The collected edition began with volume 1 on April 28, 2023, and reached volume 8 on August 29, 2025. Having seen Fuji Rock for themselves and grown closer, the four start building live performance experience in volume 6 with the goal of playing at Fuji Rock. In volume 7, they devote themselves to writing their first original song. In volume 8, they take that song, "New Lady", to the stage at a circuit festival.

The TV anime began airing on 28 TBS-affiliated stations on April 3, 2025, and ended with episode 13 on June 26. It was produced by BN Pictures, directed by Shinya Watada, with series composition by Shogo Yasukawa and character designs by Risa Miyatani. Akira Sekine voices Lilisa, Miyuri Shimabukuro voices Otoha, Ayaka Fukuhara voices Tina, and Natsumi Fujiwara voices Tamaki. The opening theme is BAND-MAID's "Ready to Rock", and the ending theme is Little Glee Monster's "ๅคขใ˜ใ‚ƒใชใ„ใชใ‚‰ใชใ‚“ใชใฎใ•". In Korea, the anime is available on Laftel for ages 15 and up.

The anime's 13th and final episode is a live showdown with Bacchus, a university student and influencer. Hakusensha's description of volume 5 previews Rock Lady's journey to its next stage, Fuji Rock, after the showdown with Bacchus. To find out what happens after the anime, start with volume 5.

Daewon C.I. publishes the Korean edition. It began with volume 1 in May 2024 and reached volume 8 in March 2026. Eight volumes are available as ebooks on RIDI. Yen Press publishes the English edition under the title Rock Is a Lady's Modesty.
