Navier Ellie Trovi is empress of the Eastern Empire when she learns that her husband, Sovieshu, intends to install his mistress Rashta in her place. What happens next is why this series matters: Navier accepts the divorce calmly, and asks that her remarriage be approved in the same breath. She then marries Heinrey of the Western Kingdom and keeps the title of empress.

The webtoon adapts a web novel by Alphatart, with adaptation by HereLee and art by SUMPUL. It began on Naver Webtoon in October 2019 and ran until its final episode on 1 January 2026, a little over six years.

Divorce-and-remarriage is now a familiar shape in romantic fantasy, and reading this one shows where much of that shape came from. Navier is not written as a woman taking revenge; she is written as someone who counts what a position is worth and decides accordingly. That is what built the audience, in Korea and elsewhere.

A live-action adaptation is on the way. Shin Min-a plays Navier, Ju Ji-hoon plays Sovieshu, Lee Jong-suk plays Heinrey and Lee Se-young plays Rashta, with Disney+ holding exclusive release and much of the shoot done in Prague. Reading the original first makes it easier to see what the adaptation changes.
