Yota finally told Miki how he had felt for years, and Miki, after a lot of agonizing, said no. The second season of the TV anime The Ramparts of Ice, which began on 1 October, picks up right after that. Minato goes to check on Miki, and the more he hears, the less sure he becomes of his own feelings for Koyuki. Koyuki gets the story of the confession from Yota and goes looking for Miki to talk it through. Minato and Yota happen to be standing right there.

At the center is Koyuki Hikawa, a high school girl who is bad with people and puts up a wall before anyone can get close. Something that happened in middle school has kept her on her own, until Minato Amamiya, who seems to become friends with everyone without trying, walks straight past the wall. Add Miki Azumi, Koyuki's childhood friend and one of the most popular girls in school, and Yota Hino, an easygoing, kind member of the basketball team, and you have the four people the story follows. Very little explodes here. The drama sits in the pause before someone picks the next word. If season 1 was about the four of them getting close, season 2 is about what grew once they did.

The second season 2 PV, released on 14 September, opens inside the head of their underclassman Momoka Kuriki. She lays out, without softening it, what she has thought of Koyuki all along, and there is a scene where she tells Minato how she feels. The trailer hints that things between Koyuki, Minato and Momoka are about to change. The opening theme is "Escort" by THE BEAT GARDEN and the ending theme is "Hanakage" by Superfly.

Koucha Agasawa started the series in November 2017 as an irregular serial on the comics app XOY. When XOY shut down, it moved to LINE Manga Indies, and in 2018 it took a special award in the Shueisha Girls' Manga Grand Prix run with LINE Manga Indies. It became an official LINE Manga serial in January 2020. It was made to be scrolled vertically on a phone. Shueisha later reformatted it for its Jump Comics line, running from volume 1 in July 2023 to the final volume 14 in February 2025. According to the season 2 theme song announcement, the series has passed 190 million views on LINE Manga (as of April 2026), and the collected edition has passed 3 million copies including digital (as of the end of August 2026).

Season 1 aired from 2 April to 2 July this year on TBS and AT-X, 14 episodes in all. Mankyu directs, Yasuhiro Nakanishi handles series composition, Miki Ogino designs the characters, and Studio KAI animates. Anna Nagase voices Koyuki, Shoya Chiba voices Minato, Fuka Izumi voices Miki, and Satoshi Inomata voices Yota.

In Japan, season 2 airs every Thursday at 11:56 pm across 28 TBS network stations, with AT-X broadcasts on Sundays at 10:30 pm from 4 October. Netflix got it first on 2 October, and other services follow from 9 October. In Korea, both seasons are on Netflix under the title ์–ผ์Œ ์„ฑ๋ฒฝ. Nobody has said officially how far into the source the anime will go. Readers who want the rest now can find the English edition on MangaPlaza, and the Korean edition runs on Naver Webtoon with a new chapter every Friday.

There is an exhibition too. "The Ramparts of Ice Exhibition" runs at Shibuya Modi in Tokyo from 28 November to 13 December, then at Namba Marui in Osaka from 6 to 21 February 2027.
