Joo Dong-geunโs All of Us Are Dead (์ง๊ธ ์ฐ๋ฆฌ ํ๊ต๋) is a zombie webtoon that started on Naver Webtoon on May 13, 2009 and ended in November 2011 after 131 episodes. The setting is Hyosan High School. An unknown virus spreads inside the building, and anyone infected turns into a monster that bites the living. Zombie fiction is the genre where people who have lost their minds to an infection come at you in crowds; this series moved that stage into an ordinary Korean high school. The story of students trapped in their classrooms, holding out without help from adults, went up every Wednesday for two and a half years.
What took the webtoon to the world was the 12-episode Netflix series released on January 28, 2022. Lee Jae-kyoo and Kim Nam-su directed, Chun Sung-il wrote the scripts, and JTBC Studio and Kim Jong-hak Production produced. Park Ji-hu played Nam On-jo, Yoon Chan-young played Lee Cheong-san, Cho Yi-hyun played Choi Nam-ra, Lomon played Lee Su-hyeok, and Yoo In-soo played Yoon Gwi-nam. According to Netflix, the show logged 361.02 million viewing hours in its first ten days, entered the non-English series top 10 in 91 countries in its first week, and held that position for two weeks running. It won the Hallyu Drama Award at the 2022 Seoul International Drama Awards.
Netflix confirmed a second season in June 2022. The start of filming was officially announced on July 23, 2025. Park Ji-hu, Yoon Chan-young, Cho Yi-hyun, and Lomon return, joined by Lee Min-jae as Maru, On-joโs senior at university, Kim Si-eun as the student Ju-ran, Roh Jae-won as Han Doo-seok, a team leader at the National Intelligence Service, and Yoon Ga-i as the student Jong-a. Lee Jae-kyoo still directs and Chun Sung-il still writes. Season two has been reported as an original story not found in the webtoon, and the premise released so far is that a new zombie virus swallows Seoul just when everyone believes life has returned to normal. According to a March 2026 report, roughly seven months of shooting ended in February 2026, and the show is now in post-production.
The reason to pick the webtoon up again is that second season. As of August 2026, however, Netflix has not announced a release date. The show was missing from the Korean slate Netflix unveiled in early 2026, so international outlets are guessing at late 2026 or early 2027. Nothing is confirmed, and the sensible thing is to wait for an official announcement.
The original is available from episode one on Naver Webtoon and Naver Series, and the English edition is on WEBTOON. Because the comic began in 2009, its art and pacing differ from the show in many places. If you watched the series first, there is real fun in comparing how the webtoon drew the same scenes, and 131 episodes is about the right length to fill the wait for season two.
