Vlad, an orphan raised on those streets, sees the establishment he works for wrecked by a disgraced knight and commits himself to the sword. The blade he acquires is sentient and can be consulted, which makes it his advisor for the whole climb. The frame is a progression story with the faction politics of a city’s underside laid over it.
