Red Storm, written by Gyeong-Chan No and drawn by Hyeon Am, has returned as a second season titled Return of the King. The original began in January 2012 and ran for nine years, so the announcement alone was enough to bring the old readership back.
Season one starts in the desert between the eastern and western continents. Yulian Provoke, a boy of the Pareia tribe, finds a mysterious man named Cheon Myeong-Hun collapsed in the sand and brings him home, and the man begins teaching him how to fight. Transplanting wuxia conventions into a desert tribal society was what made the series distinct.
The sequel picks up after the desert has been secured. This time the threat is wider than one stretch of sand, and the hero has to leave it. Readers report that starting here works, since a king returning is itself a fresh opening.
New chapters land every Saturday. Kakao Webtoon lists 8.47 million cumulative views and a 9.8 reader rating, which is unusual for a long-running series that changed seasons. Note that an official release exists only in Korean, so readers elsewhere follow it on Kakaoโs platforms in the original language.
