The first series on Naver Webtoon to pass 10 billion cumulative views was Lookism by Park Tae-jun. The milestone was announced in September 2023 using the platformโs official count from that August, split into 5.2 billion views in Korea and 4.8 billion abroad. By that point the series had run 460 episodes across roughly nine years without a single break week. It first went overseas in 2015 in Indonesian and Thai. Serialization started on November 20, 2014, which makes 2026 its twelfth year.
Everything grows out of one premise. Park Hyung-suk, a high schooler bullied for the way he looks, wakes up one morning next to a second body that is tall and handsome, and from then on he alternates between the two every time he falls asleep. The early chapters are about how differently the same person gets treated depending on which face he is wearing. Once the Four Major Crews enter the picture, the center of gravity shifts toward school-gang action. Park has since built a shared setting out of it, informally called the Park Tae-jun universe, that includes Viral Hit, Get Schooled, and Manager Kim; characters wander into each otherโs series as supporting cast, which is how most readers end up reading all of them.
There is an animated version too. The Netflix original Lookism was produced by Studio Mir, directed by Han Kwang-il, and released on December 8, 2022 in eight episodes. It had originally been scheduled for November 4 and slipped by more than a month. As of August 2026 neither Netflix nor Studio Mir has said anything about a second season. That silence is not for lack of material: the webtoon is past 600 episodes and season one covers only the opening stretch. A Chinese live-action series based on the webtoon aired in 2019.
The English edition is on WEBTOON, updating every Sunday, and reached episode 609 on August 15, 2026; the same page lists 3.8 million subscribers and 1.1 billion views. The Korean edition still posts a new episode every week on Naver Webtoon, with the full run available on Naver Series. Twelve years is a lot to start from scratch, so one reasonable route is to watch the eight Netflix episodes first and pick up the webtoon from where they stop. (As of August 21, 2026)
