Delusion (ํํน) by Hong Jacga began on Naver Webtoon in September 2019 and finished at 60 episodes. It is a mystery-horror period piece set in Gyeongseong, the Seoul of 1935. There is a woman, Song Jeong-hwa, who has not stepped outside for more than half a century and is the subject of endless rumor, and there is a painter, Yun I-ho, who is commissioned to paint her portrait and moves into her mansion. The more he paints, the more of her true nature surfaces, and before long the painter is the one under her spell. The story reaches back to 1800s Shanghai to trace the vampireโs history.
The webtoon is becoming a twelve-episode Disney+ series due in the second half of 2026. Suzy plays Song Jeong-hwa and Kim Seon-ho plays Yun I-ho, reuniting the two after the drama Start-Up. Han Jae-rim, director of the films The Face Reader and The King, both directs and writes, and the producers are Showbox and Magnum 9. When the first stills were released in November 2025, many viewers noted how closely Suzyโs Jeong-hwa matched the character in the original.
The originalโs appeal is atmosphere more than fright. The slow hours of painting, the light inside the mansion, the period costumes and street scenes build up gradually until the tension is there without a single jolt. Given Han Jae-rimโs record with period settings and characters driven by desire, the series seems likely to follow that grain rather than lean on jump scares. An exact release date has not been announced.
The webtoon is available in full on Naver Webtoon, in Korean. At 60 episodes it is a manageable read before the series arrives. (As of August 21, 2026)
