Akira Momose has come back to her countryside hometown and enrolled at the same high school as Hajime Kugayama, her first love, with a plan to end up with him. The plan is thorough. She has written scripts for the confession. The trouble is that Akira is hopelessly clumsy and the plan goes wrong every time, while Hajime is dense, jumps to conclusions, and never notices what she is trying to do. Two people who like each other and cannot tell.
Shinta Harekawa began the series in Weekly Shonen Sunday issue 39 of 2024, on sale 21 August, and it is still running. The volumes have arrived every three months, from volume 1 on 18 December 2024 to volume 7 on 18 June 2026, and volume 8 comes out in Japan on 16 September. In the Next Manga Award 2025 it placed sixth in the comics division.
VIZ's author bio says Harekawa grew up in Niigata Prefecture, that the first manga she ever read was Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2, and that it set her drawing and eventually brought her to Shonen Sunday. Her earlier Senpai, This Can't Be Love got a live-action series in 2022, and Three Exorcism Siblings ran from 2021 to 2023.
VIZ Media publishes the English edition under its Shonen Sunday imprint, and volume 4 came out on 8 September at 192 pages. Going by the blurb, it is the summer volume: Hajime finds Akira's scripts and has her dead to rights, a friendly police officer named Mamoru tries to save the two from bears, and Hajime takes a part-time job at the hot spring inn run by Akira's family. It ends at the beach, with swimsuits, a chance for each of them to ask the other out, and someone nearly drowning.
In Korea, Seoul Media Comics publishes it as ๋ชจ๋ชจ์ธ ์ํค๋ผ์ ์ฒซ์ฌ๋ ํํ ์ค, with volume 1 released on 31 October 2025. Japanese readers can follow it on Sunday Webry, and the Weekly Shonen Sunday YouTube channel has the TV commercial that aired for volume 5.
