Sun is a courier on Melemele Island in the Alola region, a boy whose goal is to save up 100 million yen. Volume 1 begins when he is escorting a newly arrived girl named Moon to Professor Kukui's lab and ends up in a battle with the island guardian Tapu Koko. VIZ Media puts it more bluntly: Sun dreams of money, Moon dreams of science, and both plans go wrong once Team Skull gets involved.
Pokémon Adventures, as VIZ calls Pocket Monsters SPECIAL, picks a new set of leads with each generation of the games, and Sun & Moon is its Alola arc. It is not an adaptation of the TV anime of the same name. Hidenori Kusaka writes and Satoshi Yamamoto draws, and Shogakukan files the arc under its CoroCoro Ichiban! magazine. The Japanese edition is six volumes, from 23 June 2017 to 27 December 2019, and CoroCoro Online announced volume 6 as the conclusion of the Alola story.
VIZ has published the English edition as Pokémon: Sun & Moon since 2018 in twelve small-format volumes, so the six Japanese books became twelve. The Complete Manga Box Set, out on 22 September, gathers all twelve, 1,104 pages in total, with a double-sided foldout color poster. The list price is $70.
No Korean edition of the Sun & Moon arc was confirmed. A Korean book with a similar name exists, but whether it is the same manga could not be established, so it is left out here.
