Kingdom has been running in Weekly Young Jump since January 2006. It is set in Qin, during the era when China was split among warring states. Xin, an orphan of those wars, wants to become a great general, and his meeting with Ying Zheng, a young king pushed off his own throne, pulls his life into the current of history.
The series works because scale and character move together. Battles involve tens of thousands, yet the book never loses track of what each commander is personally staking on the outcome. When a figure like Wang Qi steps onto the field, the weight of the whole board changes, and watching Xinโs Fei Xin unit grow into that weight is the story.
Because it is historical fiction, the broad ending is already known: Ying Zheng becomes the first emperor of a unified China. The reason to keep reading is that the manga counts the cost of that outcome person by person.
Volume eighty arrived in August 2026, and cumulative print run passed 100 million copies in November 2023. Six anime seasons have aired, the sixth finishing in December 2025, and a live-action film series exists as well.
