Furin High School is known around town for fighting. Nobody mentions its grades, and people cross the street when they see the uniform. Haruka Sakura, the hero of WIND BREAKER, picks the school precisely because of that reputation. He wants to be the strongest, and that is his only reason.
The town he arrives in does not behave the way he expected. Shopkeepers greet Furin students, and the people standing guard outside the shops are those same students. Furin is not a school that fights, it is a school that protects the neighbourhood. What Haruka walked into was not the top of a violent hierarchy but a defence squad.
That mismatch drives the whole series. Haruka grew up alone because his eyes are two different colours, so he never learned to lean on anyone. Watching him enter a school that moves as a team, call people by name and trust someone at his back is what fills the space between fights. It is an action manga, but the part that stays with you is the relationships.
Satoru Nii draws it, and it has run in Kodanshaโs Magazine Pocket since January 2021. Volume 27 is scheduled for 9 September 2026.
The TV anime is animated by CloverWorks. The first season ran 13 episodes from April 2024, and the official site now lists a second season. If you have not read the manga, that first season is a good door into how Furin is put together.
