Makoto Tsukimoto hardly talks; Yutaka Hoshino hardly stops. The two are friends, and the club they both turn up to sets a table between them.

Makoto has the strokes to beat his friend. He never does, because his own temperament gets to the ball first. Around the club he answers to Smile, and Hoshino to Peko. A teacher at the club sees what is sitting unused in the quieter boy and sets about forcing a competitor out of him. Wenge Kong and Ryuichi Kazama are among the other names in the cast.

Tatsunoko Production animated eleven episodes between 11 April and 20 June 2014, working from an original by Taiyou Matsumoto, who also takes a special thanks credit on the last of them. Masaaki Yuasa wrote all eleven scripts. The English dub was produced by Justin Cook, with Christopher Bevins directing the ADR. The genre line reads sports, drama and psychological, and it is the third word that keeps the other two honest.
