Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen began in Weekly Shonen Jump on 5 March 2018 and ended on 30 September 2024 at chapter 272, collected in 30 volumes. In its world, a curse is what happens when negative feeling accumulates until it takes a shape, and disposing of them is a job with schools, grades and paperwork.
Yuji Itadori, a high schooler, swallows a sealed special-grade cursed object and ends up housing the king of curses in his own body. Under a suspended death sentence he enrols at Jujutsu High, works missions with Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki, and is taught by Satoru Gojo. Fights here are arguments about rules: every technique has conditions and a price, and a domain expansion covers the whole field with its user’s terms. How a character breaks or sidesteps those terms is how the series resolves its action.
It is also known for killing characters often and abruptly. The sense that no victory is guaranteed holds to the end, which is why the finale was argued over for so long. At 30 volumes the whole argument is now available in one piece.
