Chapter 232 went up on Shonen Jump+ on 25 March 2026 and part two of Chainsaw Man was over. The announcement that the next chapter would be the last came with almost no warning, and the closing volume, number 24, followed on 4 June.
It started with a debt. Denji has been handed to the yakuza over money his father owed, and he pays it down by hunting devils. He lives with a dog-shaped devil called Pochita, eats plain bread, and dreams of putting jam on it. Then he is betrayed and killed, merges with Pochita, and comes back as something with a starter cord in his chest.
What makes the series unusual is how small the heroโs wants are. Nobody talks about saving the world. Denji wants to eat well, sleep well and touch another person, and the machinery of Public Safety keeps grinding those wants down. The action is loud; the aftertaste is not.
The publishing route was unusual too. Part one ran in the print Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2018 to December 2020, reaching chapter 97. Part two resumed in July 2022 on the free Shonen Jump+ app. The series began in a paper magazine and finished on the web.
Recognition arrived early. It topped the menโs list of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! in 2021, took the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shonen category, and won the Harvey Award for Best Manga in both 2021 and 2022.
MAPPA handles the screen adaptations. The first television season ran twelve episodes from 12 October 2022, and the film Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc opened on 19 September 2025. Readers who have finished the manga will be waiting years yet to see the ending of part two animated.
