That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has been running in Kodanshaโ€™s Monthly Shonen Sirius since March 2015, drawn by Taiki Kawakami. The story began as a novel by Fuse, with character designs by Mitz Vah. The hero is a 37-year-old office worker in Tokyo. He is stabbed while shielding a junior colleague, and wakes up in a world of dragons and magic as a slime with no eyes and no bones.

The story turns interesting once he accepts that body. He befriends Veldora, a storm dragon sealed inside a cave, takes the name Rimuru Tempest, and walks out to meet goblins, orcs and ogres. In most isekai stories those are enemies to defeat. Rimuru names them instead, and builds a place where they can live together. A nation of monsters comes out of that.

So the center of this manga is administration rather than combat. More people means not enough housing. Mixed species means new rules. A growing country means nervous neighbours. Those are the problems Rimuru actually solves, and his memories of office life are both the joke and the premise.

Volume 32 arrived on 9 June 2026. The serialization is in its eleventh year and continues in Monthly Shonen Sirius. Magazine Pocket and Comic DAYS both offer the first chapter for free.

The TV anime started in October 2018 at studio 8bit. The first season ran 24 episodes, and more seasons followed. Novel, manga and anime have told the same story at their own pace, so any entry point carries you comfortably as far as the founding of the nation.

In Korea the manga is licensed on Naver Series. The novel and the comic are listed separately there, so pick the comics edition if you want to read it in pictures.
