Tatsuya Endo’s Spy x Family started on Shonen Jump+ on 25 March 2019, published fortnightly, and is still running. Two countries are in a cold war, and Loid Forger, an agent of the western one, needs a family in a hurry to complete a mission.

The child he adopts, Anya, reads minds. The woman who becomes his wife on paper, Yor, kills people for a living. None of them knows what the others are, except Anya, who knows everything and cannot say any of it. That mismatch is the engine of the comedy and also the question the series keeps circling: whether a family that starts as a performance is still a family. Because the mission depends on Anya doing well at an elite school, a single chapter can hold both a spy plot and a classroom one.

The panels are roomy and most of the jokes are carried by faces, so it reads comfortably one chapter at a time. Animated series and a film followed. New chapters continue to appear on Shonen Jump+.
