ONE’s Mob Psycho 100 began online on 18 April 2012 and ended on 22 December 2017 at chapter 201, collected in 16 volumes. Shigeo Kageyama is nicknamed Mob because he has so little presence, and he also happens to be the strongest esper in the book by a wide margin.
He would rather not use any of it. He joins the body improvement club and tries to speak to the girl he likes instead. His employer is Arataka Reigen, a self-described spirit medium with no powers at all, who runs a consultancy that is mostly a con and who, at the decisive moments, tells Shigeo in plain words that ability is not what makes a person. The 100 in the title marks the point where Shigeo’s feelings reach their limit, and what overflows there is different every time.
The line work is plain, but the pages where emotion breaks are handled forcefully, which is why the series is so often discussed alongside its animated adaptation. Complete at 16 volumes.
