Magic in this world is not something a person studies. It lives inside beings called Majik, and you receive it by passing the trial that particular Majik sets. There is one further rule: only women can become witches, and only women can use magical items.
Ichi is a hunter raised in the mountains with no connection to any of that. When he defeats a notorious Majik called Desscaras and takes its power, the premise of the world shakes. A man using magic is itself the event, so the early conflict arrives through institutions before it arrives through fights.
The art is the seriesโ strongest asset. Shiro Usazaki, who drew Act-Age, gives the boyโs animal movement and the witchesโ costuming completely different densities of line. Osamu Nishi, who writes, is known for gag manga, which produces a mixture where comedy keeps landing on top of a serious premise.
Serialisation began in Weekly Shonen Jump on 9 September 2024 and continues. Recognition arrived fast for something under two years old: first in the print category of the 2025 Next Manga Award, eleventh in Da Vinciโs 2025 Book of the Year list, fourth in the menโs division of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2026, and tenth at the 19th Manga Taisho.
No anime has been announced. That means the manga is the only way in, and it is one of the few current Jump titles you can catch up on without clearing a shelf.
