Yumi Tamura’s 7SEEDS ran from 13 October 2001 to 27 May 2017 and finished at 178 chapters across 35 volumes. Governments who knew a meteor was coming selected young people and put them into cold storage; the story starts when they wake to a land where humans are gone.
Japan prepared five teams, and because each team was selected and trained on different principles, they wake into entirely different situations. Some were drilled for survival and some were dropped in knowing nothing. Natsu Iwashimizu, who is frightened of everything and cannot say what she thinks, is one of them, and the book spends a long time following how a person like that finds a place without breaking.
The specifics get real attention: plants and climate that no longer match anything known, what can and cannot be eaten, and the problem of agreeing rules between people from scratch. Complete at 35 volumes, with an animated adaptation.
