Start with a microwave oven that can be told what to do by text message. It sits in a cramped Akihabara room that Rintarou Okabe, who bills himself a mad scientist, insists on calling a laboratory, the latest in a line of homemade devices the group calls future gadgets.
The room is shared with two other lab members, Mayuri Shiina, who has known Okabe since they were children, and Itaru Hashida, an otaku whose other talent is hacking. The three of them spend their hours fiddling with the machine. Then strange things start happening to the lab members, one after another. Kurisu Makise and Suzuha Amane stand near the center of what follows.
WHITE FOX produced the series, which ran for 24 episodes from 6 April to 14 September 2011. Yui Sakakibara performs the ending theme. The English dub was produced by Justin Cook with Colleen Clinkenbeard as ADR director, working from scripts by Patrick Seitz and J. Michael Tatum.
