The smoking area behind a neighborhood supermarket is not much of a place, which makes it an odd thing to put in a title. This series builds itself out of that corner.
Sasaki is a company employee worn thin by long hours. The cigarette after work is most of what he has left at the end of a day, and Yamada, who works at the supermarket he stops at on the way home and never seems short on good humor, is the rest of it. One night he arrives long after his usual hour and Yamada is not there. With no greeting and no place to light up, the evening goes flat. Then a young woman with piercings calls over to say that smoking here is allowed.
Comedy, romance and slice of life all sit in the same show, with Gotou and Obata filling in around the two leads. Asahi Production animates it under director Aoi Mori, with series composition by Mio Inoue and character designs by Tomoka Ootaki, and ZUTOMAYO handled the opening theme arrangement. Karl Willems directs the English dub. Twelve episodes are planned, and the run that began on July 10, 2026 has not finished yet.
