The game came first. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners borrows the city of Cyberpunk 2077 and then builds something separate on top of it, a self-contained ten-episode run animated at TRIGGER and directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, who also storyboarded the final episode and worked as animation director on the opening.
David Martinez grew up on those streets. In a city where trading flesh for hardware is ordinary, everything he has is on the line, and he signs on as an edgerunner to keep breathing. An edgerunner is a mercenary who works where the law does not reach. Lucy is billed alongside him as a lead, with Rebecca and Maine in supporting roles. It is classed at once as action, drama, science fiction and psychological.
All ten episodes arrived on 13 September 2022, dropped together instead of week by week. Netflix carries the series. The English and French versions were each given their own ADR director, Wendee Lee and Donald Reignoux.
