It began in middle school, with a guitar. Her name is Hitori Gotou, nickname Bocchi-chan. She is shy enough that a sentence to a stranger stalls in her throat, and she took up the instrument because a band looked like the one place where a person like her might count for something.
The problem was that she had nobody to play with. The series that grew out of that premise ran for twelve episodes between 9 October and 25 December 2022, animated at CloverWorks. Tomoki Kikuya wrote the music. Yukiko Horiguchi worked as a key animator on the opening.
Hitori shares the story with Nijika Ijichi, Ryou Yamada and Ikuyo Kita. Whatever she has taught herself in private, a band means other people, and other people are the part she is worst at.
