Gon's adventure begins with becoming a Hunter to find his father, but each arc has a different feel. The setting shifts from the Hunter Exam to tracking a criminal organization and surviving inside a game, while restrictions on each ability turn battles into contests of wits.
Repeated lengthy hiatuses mean the story is still unfinished. The 2011 anime also stops at the Chairman Election arc, partway through the manga.
MangaCute artwork frames an adventure down the enormous pit known as the Abyss, but the deeper the journey goes, the more the world's cruel rules emerge. The scenery and music create a striking sense of wonder.
MangaFast-paced action and distinctive characters bring the battles of jujutsu sorcerers to life. The Shibuya Incident turns the story on its head, leaving you even more eager to see what happens next.
