Kagurabachi started in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023 and became the fastest-talked-about new Jump series in years, later taking the print manga category of the 2024 Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards.
It opens quietly. Chihiro Rokuhira trains under his father, a famous swordsmith, and the early chapters read as domestic comedy between a goofy parent and a serious kid. Then a single violent day takes all of it away, and the series turns into a modern-day supernatural action manga. That drop between the opening tone and everything after is the reason people recommend reading from chapter one rather than jumping in later.
Six enchanted blades his father left behind are the engine of the plot, and the fights stay legible because each bladeโs ability is explained without clutter. Later arcs bring in figures who cross over from the other side, Hakuri Sazanami most notably, and the book gradually turns into an ensemble.
The anime is confirmed for April 2027, animated by Cypic, directed by Tetsuya Takeuchi with character designs by Keigo Sasaki, and Taihi Kimura voicing Chihiro. Crunchyroll holds international streaming rights. VIZ and MANGA Plus both carry the manga in English, so there is time to catch up before broadcast.
